There is no federal or state law that prohibits the admission of undocumented students to U.S. colleges, public or private. You should pursue postsecondary education and dream big when it comes to your future. Make sure to research your options early so you‘ll be prepared!
The fact that you are an undocumented student does not automatically disqualify you from qualifying for in-state tuition. Visit the State Council on Higher Education for Virginia’s (SCHEV’s) In-State Residency page for more information and speak to your high school counselor or preferred college or university about your options.
Being an undocumented student also does not disqualify you from receiving financial assistance for postsecondary education. Virginians who are nonimmigrants, undocumented, have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status or are otherwise ineligible to file the FAFSA and would like to be considered for state financial aid should fill out the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) application. The VASA application provides access only to state financial aid.
Visit the VASA Application page for more information!
No matter where you’re from, the next move after high school is a big step. There are resources to help undocumented students succeed.
